Caribbean Tourism Organization appeals for unity during hurricane season

Barbados.- As the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season nears, Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) President Kenneth Bryan calls for heightened preparedness and unity among Caribbean islands to tackle the impacts of climate change. Bryan expressed solidarity with St. Vincent and the Grenadines, severely affected by Hurricane Beryl, emphasizing regional support. He warned that this hurricane season could be the worst in years due to climate change and warming ocean temperatures, urging proactive mitigation measures.

Bryan highlighted the renowned Caribbean spirit of strength and resilience, stressing collective efforts to prepare and support each other. He also appealed to the international community for assistance in rebuilding infrastructure and essential services, noting the disproportionate impact of climate change on the Caribbean. Bryan urged all Caribbean nations to prioritize preparedness and unity to build a stronger, more resilient future for the region’s people and tourism industry.
