Punta Cana Carnival is recognized in The Best of DR 2024
Punta Cana.- The Punta Cana Carnival has been honored with the “Cultural Event” award by Mercado magazine’s The Best of DR 2024, in recognition of its remarkable 15-year history. This annual event, organized by Grupo Puntacana, attracts thousands of local and international visitors each year to the 1st of November Boulevard in The Village Puntacana, showcasing a vibrant mix of artistic and cultural performances from various national and international groups.
Ms. Haydée Rainieri, a member of Grupo Puntacana’s board of directors, accepted the award, expressing gratitude for the recognition. “We are very grateful to receive this award from Mercado magazine. We are proud of the recognition of the efforts of a team dedicated to working on such a special event for the entire community of Punta Cana and the province of La Altagracia,” she said.
In the 2024 edition, Dominican baseball legend George Bell, who made history in Major League Baseball during the 1980s and 1990s as the first player to hit three home runs on an opening day, was crowned King Momo. Additionally, Las Musas de Punta Cana paid tribute to Dominican baseball players, celebrating their contributions to the sport and their role in elevating the country’s international reputation.
Since its inception, the Punta Cana Carnival has honored influential national figures who inspire Dominican society and promote art, culture, and sports. Past honorees include Oscar de la Renta, Juan Marichal, José Antonio Molina, Michel Camilo, Eddy Herrera, and Milly Quezada.
