Punta Cana Carnival 2025 celebrates culture and sustainability

Punta Cana.- The sixteenth edition of the Punta Cana Carnival took place on February 22 at The Village Puntacana’s First of November Boulevard, bringing together hundreds of local and international visitors. Organized by the Puntacana Group, the event showcased a vibrant mix of music, culture, and art from national and international performers. The festivities kicked off with the coronation of King Momo, a title awarded to two-time Olympic gold medalist Félix Sánchez, who was honored for his contributions to Dominican sports. The celebration continued with a grand parade featuring 54 carnival groups and over 1,500 performers from various Dominican provinces, as well as Curacao and Colombia.

The event provided attendees with live music, food trucks, and entertainment in a secure, family-friendly environment, with viewing from 20 platforms and 10 free-access stands. This year, sustainability was a key focus, with initiatives such as waste recycling stations, reusable cups, and biodegradable disposables. For the first time, a craft bazaar was introduced, offering exclusive promotional items. Sponsored by leading Dominican brands, the carnival reinforced its commitment to promoting local culture and responsible tourism.

A standout feature was Las Musas de Punta Cana, a comparsa that honored the country’s rich biodiversity by showcasing costumes inspired by Dominican fruits such as pineapple, coconut, and mango. This tradition, led by Punta Cana community women, continues to highlight national identity through creative and colorful themes. The Punta Cana Carnival once again proved to be a cultural and artistic highlight, blending tradition with modern sustainability efforts.
