Flights between Dominican Republic and New York disrupted by severe weather
Santo Domingo.- Air travel between the Dominican Republic and New York City has been disrupted due to adverse weather conditions, leading to several flight cancellations at Las Américas International Airport (AILA), according to Aeropuertos Dominicanos Siglo XXI (AERODOM).
Delta Airlines canceled flights 1942 and 1943 between AILA and John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), while JetBlue Airways canceled flight 709/110 for the same route, citing both weather and the expiration of crew duty time. Affected JetBlue passengers were transferred to flight 8110, operated by aircraft N509JB, which had been grounded the day before for mechanical issues that have since been resolved. United Airlines also canceled flights 1471 and 1472 due to the weather. Impacted passengers from all carriers have been rebooked on alternate flights.
AERODOM advises travelers to stay in close contact with their airlines and check flight statuses before heading to the airport, as additional schedule changes are possible if weather conditions in the New York area persist.
