La Romana leads with the country’s first AI course for tourism professionals
La Romana.- The La Romana Bayahibe Tourism Cluster, supported by the Ministry of Tourism, has launched the first Artificial Intelligence and Digital Tools Course for Tourism Companies — a pioneering initiative in the Dominican Republic and the Caribbean. The program aims to strengthen the digital skills of local tourism professionals at a time when 89% of global travelers express interest in using AI to plan their trips.
The course brings together hotel managers, business owners, and tourism professionals from La Romana, along with members of the Dominican Association of Tourism Press (Adompretur) La Romana. Executive Director Ana García-Sotoca emphasized that the program reflects the cluster’s strategic vision to drive the sector’s digital transformation and position La Romana at the forefront of technological innovation in tourism.
The four-week, 18-hour program offers practical training in prompt engineering, process automation, smart customer service, and data analysis, providing tools to improve business efficiency and traveler experiences. With this initiative, La Romana becomes the first Dominican destination to incorporate AI education into its tourism development strategy, reaffirming its leadership in innovation, sustainability, and digital transformation.
