Police agents of the Central Directorate of Investigation (DICRIM), through the Department of Investigation of Transnational Crimes (DEIDET), seized four accurate pistols, four toy replicas, and two sharp weapons, among other items that were smuggled into the country, camouflaged inside electronic items in a container from abroad.

The operation was supported by the General Directorate of Customs (DGA), the Public Prosecutor’s Office, and other state security agencies, which worked together to dismantle this criminal network. During the intervention, a 50-year-old man was identified as responsible for sending and receiving the weapons.

The weapons seized at the Haina Oriental port, which had arrived in tanks and boxes from Brooklyn, New York, United States, include pistols of different calibers and models, as well as ammunition and magazines.

These were transported hidden inside equipment such as televisions and music players, using techniques designed to evade customs controls and security inspections at the country’s ports.

The evidence seized was placed under the control of the Public Prosecutor’s Office. At the same time, the National Police reaffirms its duty to combat arms trafficking and other transnational crimes that threaten security and social peace.
