Dominican Couple in NY lead network stealing luxury goods for resale in DR

Santo Domingo.- Authorities in New York have arrested a Dominican man and woman accused of leading a criminal network that stole merchandise worth $2 million from major chain stores. The stolen items, including handbags, clothing, high-end beauty products, and perfumes, were resold at lower prices in New York, Maryland, and the Dominican Republic, where they were distributed through a boutique in Santiago.

The criminal operation involved diverting products by bribing truck drivers to deliver goods to unauthorized locations, rather than their intended destinations. The stolen merchandise was then sold at significantly discounted prices, both online and in physical stores. Authorities have also discovered firearms linked to the operation, indicating the scale and seriousness of the criminal group.

The arrests and details of the dismantling of the network were announced at a press conference with New York Governor Kathy Hochul and Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz. The group faces charges of stealing high-end makeup, perfumes, designer clothing, and accessories, with authorities emphasizing the scope of the operation.
