Foreign Minister showcases Dominican Republic’s vision for 2025 Summit of the Americas

United States.- Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez visited the United States to engage with business leaders and discuss the Dominican Republic’s preparations for the 2025 Summit of the Americas. In Miami, he met with the Council of the Americas and Dominican entrepreneurs, emphasizing the private sector’s role in fostering regional trade, attracting investments, and boosting intraregional tourism through the summit’s Business Forum.

Álvarez also participated in the Annual Conference of the American Chambers of Commerce, highlighting U.S.-Dominican relations and cooperation on issues such as Haiti’s crisis, drug trafficking, and illegal migration. He stressed the need for stronger international support for Haiti, warning of potential migration surges if the Kenyan-led Multinational Mission lacks financial backing.

The minister later traveled to Laredo, Texas, where he toured A&M International University and signed a memorandum of understanding to foster collaboration between the institution and the Dominican Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This partnership aims to support socioeconomic initiatives, conferences, and research projects. He was accompanied by Vice Minister Hugo Fco. Rivera.
