Dominican Republic showcases culture and economy at Expo 2025 Osaka-Kansai

Osaka, Japan.- On April 12, the Dominican Republic officially launched its participation in Expo 2025 Osaka-Kansai with the inauguration of its national pavilion in Osaka, Japan. The grand opening was attended by Japanese Emperor Naruhito, Empress Masako, Crown Prince Fumihito, and Princess Kiko. In his remarks, the Emperor shared his childhood memories of attending the 1970 Expo in Osaka and expressed hope that this edition will spark similar wonder in new generations.

Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba also addressed attendees, emphasizing the Expo’s role in fostering global unity. The Dominican Republic’s pavilion, located in the “Connecting Lives” zone, is themed “Hyperconnected” and offers an immersive experience through exhibits on art, music, sports, and local products such as coffee, chocolate, rum, cigars, amber, larimar, and textiles.

The country’s participation is coordinated by the Dominican Embassy in Japan, along with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Tourism, Culture, and other national institutions. With over 150 countries involved and an expected 28 million visitors, the Dominican Republic aims to strengthen diplomatic ties, attract investment, and boost its global presence through this international platform.
