12-foot waves mark Day of the Dead
Santo Domingo.- The National Weather Office –Onamet- on Fri. warned of higher-than-normal swells for the next 72 hours in the Dominican Republic, where 12-foot waves mark Day of the Dead, as reported from Puerto Rico.
In that regard Emergency Operations Center (COE) director Juan Manuel Méndez, noted that the cold fronts begin in November, which unleash higher waves towards the north coast.
He urged residents to remain alert for their reports.
For this weekend Onamet forecasts an abnormal swell from Cabo Cabrón (Samaná) to Cabo San Rafael (La Altagracia), “therefore, fragile and small boats should sail with caution near the coast without venturing offshore.”
