Dominican Republic’s most notorious convict denied parole
San Cristobal, Dominican Republic.- San Cristóbal province sentencing judge Willy de Jesus Nuñez on Wednesday ruled against parole for money laundering convict Sobeida Felix, noting that the inmate doesn’t meet the conditions required for such measure.
Nuñez also ruled that with the time she’s served in prison hasn’t paid her debt to society for the damage caused by her actions. She has served 30 months of a five year sentence.
The ruling didn’t consider the plea bargaining agreement with the National District Office of the Prosecutor.
Núñez said the person who was to serve as the inmate’s guarantor didn’t even know the place where she was to serve the prison term, one of the most important conditions for her parole.
Morel, who gained notoriety as the paramour of Puerto Rican kingpin Jose Figueroa Agosto, arrived in court escorted by a heavily armed agents after 2pm and neither she nor her lawyer made any statement on the hearing.
It was learned that Felix’s attorney, Felix Portes will appeal the ruling in the San Cristobal Court of Appeals.
