Grupo Piñero invests US$40 million in the renovation of the Cayo Levantado hotel

Encarna Piñero, CEO of Grupo Piñero, announced that the company will invest US$40 million in the renovation and reopening of the Cayo Levantado hotel. “It is a very ambitious project, and we have been working very carefully, to enhance the environment, and show the world the true heart of the destination,” he stated. In the reopening of the hotel complex, sustainability would be one of its strong points; “we want to make a zero-waste and self-sustaining island,” he added.

He explained that the hotel complex will have 219 rooms and restaurants and bars that will delight customers, some of which will be internationally renowned and will allow us to enjoy the latest culinary trends. In terms of occupancy in the Bahia Principe & Resorts brand hotels at the end of the year, Piñero stated that “a very good closing is expected, as we all know, the summer was excellent with 90% full and according to reservations, the end of the year will be the same or better.”

“DR is one of the most important destinations for us as hoteliers, which is why we will have all of our complexes open next year, including the Bahia Principe Cayacoa, which we opened on November 1, and Cayo Levantado in the second quarter of 2023.” “We will open Principe Turquesa in April 2023,” he stated. According to the businesswoman, they are not only concerned with the environment. “The Piñero Group employs 7,000 people directly in the Dominican Republic, and we hope to add more with future projects and reopenings.”
