Top Dominican official sees plot in assaults on showbiz figures

Santo Domingo.- A surprising spate of assaults and thefts victimizing showbiz figures has Interior and Police minister Jose R. Fadul seeing plot, which he affirms aims to derail the Dominican Government’s hihly touted Citizen Security Plan.

He said he suspects the attacks might be part of a plan by people he didn’t identify, who want to hinder or block the crime-fighting strategy.

Among the latest entertainment personalities victims of crimes figure TV show host Socorro Castellanos, comedian Nicolas Diaz “Margaro,” merengue star Sergio Vargas and the singer Melymel.
