PUERTO PLATA, Dominican Republic.- A Puerto Plata District court Friday morning sent several Germans to spend one year in prison to await trial, charged with conspiracy and weapons smuggling, .
Permanent Attention Court judge Jose Juan Jimenez ruled against Piter Brunk and his son Daniel Brunk, who live near the resort town of Sosua, where the authorities seized an arsenal on Wednesday, including grenades and assault rifles.
Also charged is the German national Silvey Isabella Districh Bosen, wife of compatriot Peter Ebert Demetrick, killed by agents in an hours long shootout in their compound, which police called a fort.
Demetrick and his wife, who also fired at the officers, wore bulletproof vests, police said, as reaffirmed by the investigator’s evidence against the group.
Puerto Plata DA Alba Nunez said the investigation continues, noting the numerous assault weapons seized in the Germans’ compound in the resort complex at La Mulata.
