High Court orders Chamber of Deputies to disclose payroll

Santo Domingo.- The Constitutional Court (TC) on Tuesday overturned two Supreme Court rulings, and orders the Chamber of Deputies to provide the plaintiff Alejandro Alberto Paulino a certified copy of its payroll, including names, positions and salaries.

In a 4 to 1 vote the TC ruling reaffirms however that the ID card (cedula) number is personal and adds nothing to the transparency and control of government corruption, “for which government agencies aren’t obliged to disclose such information."

Paulino had appealed the Supreme Court ruling which annulled a lower court sentence ordering the Chamber of Deputies release the information.
