Puerto Plata.- The Dominican Association of Tourism Press (Adompretur) recently held General Assemblies in both Puerto Plata and Sosúa-Cabarete with the primary focus of reinforcing unity among members and ensuring adherence to the organization’s statutes and regulations.

Adompretur President Yenny Polanco Lovera delivered the opening address, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a united front as the organization approaches its 47th anniversary. She highlighted the significant role played by these branches, located in the birthplace of Dominican tourism, in promoting tourism journalism.

“Nationwide engagement is crucial,” stated Polanco Lovera. “By organizing meetings, educational activities, and social events, we can foster strong relationships among our members and continue supporting the most productive sector of our country’s economy.”

However, the Puerto Plata assembly saw an additional development. The branch’s board was suspended in accordance with Articles 32 and 52 of the Adompretur statutes. This suspension stems from concerns regarding current inactivity within the branch and will be subject to further evaluation by the National Council.

The Sosúa-Cabarete branch, led by Secretary General Daniel Mercado, also held its assembly, where Mercado presented a management report and commended the national board for its support in energizing the branch’s membership.

Polanco Lovera encouraged members of the Sosúa-Cabarete branch to resolve differences to maintain unity and strengthen Adompretur’s institutional framework.

Key attendees included members of the Council of Former Presidents, the Ethics Committee and other distinguished guests. Polanco Lovera extended her gratitude to Blue Jacktar Hotel and Amhsa Casa Marina for hosting the assemblies.

Adompretur, founded 47 years ago, currently has 14 branches, including two international ones.

Articles 32 and 52 of Adompretur’s Statutes:

Article 32: Board meetings will be presided over by the President or, in their absence, the Vice President, with minutes taken and signed by all attendees.

Article 52: Branches will adhere to the current statutes and a special regulation. In unforeseen situations, branches must follow the guidelines set by the Board.
