Punta Bergantín project receives international sustainability certification

Puerto Plata.– The Punta Bergantín project has earned certification from the Center for Sustainability and Excellence (CSE) for its commitment to sustainable tourism, scoring over 90 points. The project, which spans 10 million square meters, was evaluated for its sustainability practices in governance, society, and environmental stewardship, and was classified as a “Sustainability Practitioners” initiative.

The sustainability proposal focuses on energy efficiency, waste management, climate change mitigation, and community engagement. It also includes plans for ecological revitalization, such as marine nurseries, coral restoration, and wetland conservation to protect the ecosystem and prevent flooding. Additionally, the project will promote biodiversity with native plantings and the restoration of the coastal reef.

Punta Bergantín’s master plan emphasizes preserving the natural environment while developing high-quality real estate and tourist facilities, including hotels, recreational areas, and low-density housing. The project aims to attract significant private investment, featuring an 18-hole golf course, an academic campus, and film studios. Major hotel brands, including Hyatt, Meliá, Hilton, and Marriott, are already involved.
