Tusi becomes fourth most seized drug in the Dominican Republic

Santo Domingo.- Tusi, commonly misidentified as “pink cocaine,” has seen a surge in popularity in the Dominican Republic since authorities confirmed its presence in 2024. This drug cocktail, composed of ketamine, MDMA, caffeine, and occasionally LSD or heroin, is unpredictable and poses significant health risks.

The National Directorate of Drug Control (DNCD) reported that from January 1 to 20, 2025, tusi was the fourth most seized drug, trailing behind cocaine, marijuana, and crack. In this period, authorities confiscated 8.8 grams of tusi, surpassing heroin, methamphetamine, and ecstasy for the first time. Over half a million grams of various narcotics were seized in total, alongside firearms, vehicles, and other equipment during 5,545 operations and 126 raids.

Tusi first appeared on authorities’ radar in December 2023, linked to a high-profile case involving the murder of a Venezuelan woman. The drug is known for inducing hallucinations and mood elevation, making it a growing concern for law enforcement and public health in the country.
