Floods affect several sectors of Puerto Plata

Puerto Plata—The intense rains recorded in the last few hours have flooded rivers, streams, and ravines in several sectors of the municipality of San Felipe de Puerto Plata, partially damaging at least 215 homes.

The province of Puerto Plata is on yellow alert due to a trough on the country’s northern coast.

San Marcos
The Alleys
New Rebirth
La Cañita
Haiti Neighborhood
Camino Real Street
Luis Ginebra
Beautiful Coastal
Padre Granero

According to Whascar García, provincial director of the Civil Defense in Puerto Plata, no people have been reported in shelters so far.

He said they continue to monitor the situation in coordination with other rescue institutions.
