BiggerDominican manufacturing activity strengthens in March
Santo Domingo.- Manufacturing activity in the Dominican Republic saw significant growth in March 2025, with the Manufacturing Activity Index (IMAM) rising to 54.8 points—up from 50.7 in February—according to the Association of Industries of the Dominican Republic (AIRD). The index remains above the 50-point threshold, signaling expansion in the sector.
The IMAM, which reflects trends in sales, production, employment, inventories, and supplier delivery times, showed particularly strong improvements in “sales volume” (rising from 43.1 to 56.3) and “production volume” (from 44.9 to 59.6). These gains suggest renewed momentum in manufacturing output and market demand.
However, not all indicators moved upward. Employment dropped from 60.7 to 48.2, while inventory levels and supplier delivery times also declined. Despite this, the three-month moving average of the IMAM remains above 50, indicating sustained overall growth in the sector. The AIRD emphasized that the IMAM, based on the global Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI), offers a practical view of the country’s industrial health.
