CES meeting on Haiti postponed

Santo Domingo.– The high-level meeting of the Economic and Social Council (CES), originally scheduled for Tuesday to address the Haitian crisis and its impact on the Dominican Republic, has been postponed to next Thursday. The meeting will bring together President Luis Abinader, his three predecessors—Leonel Fernández, Danilo Medina, and Hipólito Mejía—and several top officials.

Presidential spokesman Homero Figueroa and CES Secretary General Selman Fernández confirmed the postponement. According to government sources, the change was due to a scheduling conflict in President Abinader’s agenda.

The meeting, set to take place at 4:00 p.m. in the Pedro Henríquez Ureña National Library, will include discussions on six key areas: immigration, bilateral trade, development of border communities, national security, international relations, and labor issues.
