Innovation and Connection: Sarah Hernández unveils strategic vision for Adompretur
Santo Domingo.- Journalist and lawyer Sarah Hernández today launched her bid for the presidency of the Asociación Dominicana de Prensa Turística (Adompretur) for the 2025–2027 term, presenting a platform she calls “Innovation and Connection.” Speaking before former presidents of the association, sector partners and regional delegates, Hernández argued that Adompretur requires more than a mere leadership shuffle; it needs a foundational shift in mindset and structure.
Hernández, director of DiarioSocialRD, outlined three core pillars of her proposal: continuous professional development, robust institutional frameworks and genuine engagement with Adompretur’s provincial chapters. She emphasized that “our strength lies not only in our national office but in every corner of the country where tourism journalists operate,” promising to amplify regional voices with dedicated resources, training and decision‑making authority.
Veteran Adompretur president Luis José Chávez endorsed Hernández’s candidacy, praising her record of ethical journalism and her talent for building consensus across diverse stakeholders. “Sarah brings both the vision and the discipline needed to guide our association through the next stage of growth,” he said.
Hernández introduced a leadership team that combines seasoned professionals with fresh perspectives. Millizen Uribe, former secretary general of Adompretur, will serve as vice‑president; public‑relations expert Carmen Bretón as secretary general; and Ramón Chávez, with experience in cultural and media guilds, as finance director. Digital strategist and filmmaker Héctor Méndez will direct training initiatives, ensuring members acquire the latest tools in multimedia storytelling and data analysis.
Regional representation forms the backbone of “Innovation and Connection.” Raysa Félix will coordinate provincial outreach, while Jairon Severino, editor of El Dinero, will manage institutional partnerships. Communications will fall under Rosa Lidia Lora; Cristina Rosario will lead cultural‑tourism projects; Omar Rivera will oversee events; and Marcos Cadet will drive marketing efforts. An independent Ethics Committee, chaired by senior journalist Osvaldo Soriano and supported by Marivell Contreras, Carmen Luz Beato, Nereyda Mercado and Yubelkys Mejía, will safeguard professional standards and Adompretur’s core values.
By prioritizing skill development, transparent governance and grassroots inclusion, Hernández aims to position Adompretur as a modern, dynamic force in Dominican tourism coverage, capable of shaping policy debates, influencing sustainable‑tourism practices and elevating the industry’s public profile.
