Sectors analyze Sosúa’s strengths and challenges as a destination

The plan is to rescue Sosúa.

Sosúa — Civil society organizations held an evaluation session to determine the strengths and challenges involved in repositioning this municipality as a true enclave of this tourist destination in the northern region.

Under the slogan “Better Times for Sosúa,” various representatives of civil society, including government authorities, hotel leaders, and strategic actors, joined forces in a dialogue to analyze and plan for the immediate future, the objectives that will restore this community’s emblematic charm that characterized it in previous years.

The call for this meeting came from the Association for the Sustainable Development of Sosúa (ADSS), which held a full day of work at the Amhsa Casa Marina hotel and enthusiastically welcomed the actors who make up the economic, social, and community life of this municipality.

This meeting focused on analyzing the different possible variables to rebuild, in a participatory manner, a new leadership roadmap for the relaunch of tourism in this enclave.

ADSS executives emphasized that this event exceeded expectations, with a high level of participation and strong support for the new process created internally to transform current ideas about Sosúa.

This initiative was launched by the Attorney General’s Office, led by Yeni Berenice Reynoso, a native of Puerto Plata, through “Operation Atlantic,” supported by the Ministry of the Interior and Police.

Unfortunately for the small businesses, as well as the workers in the hotels and restaurants , they will suffer signifcant economic damages. Tourism in the North Coast is mainly just cruise ship passengers who get off the ship for a few hours and then leave. There are a lot of them, which is beneficial, but they dont stay. My guess is Sosua is being cleaned out for some major developers to build and they dont want the old Sosua Most of the tourist will still go to Punta Cana.
