Santo Domingo.- The General Coordination Committee has unanimously approved the “Final Report of the Dialogue on the Haitian Crisis and its Implications for the Dominican Republic,” following a month-long process of open, plural, and technically rigorous discussions. The meeting, held at the Economic and Social Council (CES), brought together delegates of President Luis Abinader, former presidents Hipólito Mejía, Leonel Fernández, and Danilo Medina, along with CES representatives. The report reflects consensus, dissent, and recommendations gathered from six thematic roundtables addressing the challenges of the Haitian crisis.
The final document identifies 26 lines of action and 150 specific proposals aimed at guiding the Dominican Republic’s response. Committee members highlighted the moral commitment these agreements represent for the Dominican people, while calling for support from the international community and leadership in Haiti.
The CES, marking its 20th anniversary, reaffirmed its mission to promote political and social stability. In the coming days, it will announce the date and method for delivering the report to the President and former presidents, underscoring its role as the primary body for institutionalized social consultation.
