David Collado to continue as Tourism Minister
Santo Domingo.- Amid cabinet changes in President Luis Abinader’s administration, Tourism Minister David Collado confirmed that he will continue leading the Ministry of Tourism. He announced a 12-month plan, developed in collaboration with the private sector, aimed at strengthening the Dominican Republic’s tourism industry.
Collado shared the update during an accountability presentation before the Board of Directors of the Dominican Republic Hotel and Tourism Association (Asonahores) and its former presidents. “On this symbolic date of August 18, we review our work with the private sector, and we will continue leading the Ministry of Tourism. This decision has been confirmed with President Luis Abinader,” he stated. Regarding his tenure, he noted that remaining in the role for another year is ultimately the president’s decision.
During the meeting, Collado highlighted accomplishments from his past five years, including permitting processes, the Colonial City project, and other initiatives, concluding with an overview of recent tourism results.

The tourism sector has become so strong under Collado’s leadership that whatever it wants, it gets… first. Other government sectors needing support have to take a number and hope to be served.
