Guterres condemns global neglect of Haiti’s humanitarian crisis
United Nations.- General António Guterres denounced the lack of international support for Haiti, noting that only 10% of the US$908 million humanitarian plan for 2025 has been funded. He warned that more than 1.7 million people risk losing all assistance, calling the crisis “a life-or-death emergency.”
Guterres described Haiti as the world’s most underfunded humanitarian appeal, with gang violence spreading nationwide and overtaking Port-au-Prince. According to the UN, 6 million Haitians—nearly half the population—need aid, while 1.3 million have been displaced. Children remain the most vulnerable, suffering murder, abductions, forced recruitment, and sexual violence.
The UN chief urged donors to act immediately, stressing that state authority is collapsing and security conditions continue to deteriorate. Haiti is now among the five global hotspots of greatest concern for hunger, with violence and human rights violations worsening daily.

No amount of aid will benefit as long as the criminals, gangs and drug lords are in charge of the Country. We need to eliminate them by any means but likely military force will be needed as they are far better armed than local police/military and more motivated. Hopefully the government “leadership” can be cooperative but unfortunately, large scale military operations will be necessary to eliminate the criminal gangs.
