Punta Cana is among Breeze Airways’ top 3 picks for flights outside the US.

Breeze Airways has received certification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as a US flag Carrier, a status that allows it to operate international routes. With this authorization, the airline immediately launched its first three destinations outside the United States: Cancún, Mexico; Punta Cana, Dominican Republic; and Montego Bay, Jamaica.

The company is the first in more than a decade to complete the rigorous evaluation process to obtain this certification. The new services, subject to final Government approval, will begin operating seasonally in winter 2026 from six airports in the United States, according to a statement from the airline.

The new nonstop routes, now available for sale, will connect key cities in Breeze’s network with high-demand tourist destinations in the Caribbean.

“Becoming a U.S. flag carrier is a tremendous achievement for Breeze, one that our team members have worked tirelessly to build over the past three years,” said David Neeleman, founder and CEO of Breeze Airways.

“We’re excited to bring the same convenience and elevated experience you enjoy on our domestic flights to three exciting new international destinations,” he added.

To support the expansion, the airline will open a new crew base in Raleigh-Durham (RDU) during the first quarter of 2026. This will be the company’s twelfth base in its network and is expected to create more than 200 pilot and cabin crew jobs in the region.

“Breeze is the number one carrier in RDU in terms of destinations served. When evaluating where to expand our base presence, the Research Triangle was a natural choice and is a desirable location to recruit new team members,” Neeleman added.

Breeze Airways’ scheduled seasonal flights are as follows:

  • From  Charleston  to  Cancun, Mexico : One weekly flight on Saturdays, beginning January 17, 2026.
  • From  New Orleans  to  Cancun, Mexico : One weekly flight on Saturdays, beginning February 7, 2026.
