COE issues alert due to deteriorating maritime conditions along Dominican coasts

Santo Domingo.- The Emergency Operations Center (COE) has issued an alert due to the progressive deterioration of maritime conditions on both coasts of the country, according to the meteorological bulletin of the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (INDOMET).

This phenomenon is due to the occurrence of abnormal winds and waves that pose a danger to vessels and people in coastal areas.

On the Atlantic coast, small and medium-sized vessel operators are advised to remain in port from Cabo Engaño (La Altagracia) to Miches (El Seibo). For the rest of the coast, it is advisable to sail close to the coastal perimeter and avoid venturing offshore, due to abnormal winds and waves that could generate hazardous situations.

The COE also instructs civil protection agencies on the Atlantic coast to take preventive measures to protect coastal users in the event of possible surf and rip currents.

The public is urged to stay informed through official COE channels and to follow the authorities’ recommendations to avoid unfortunate incidents.
