Public Health launches national rabies vaccination campaign for pets
Santo Domingo.- The Ministry of Public Health (MSP) announced a national rabies vaccination campaign for dogs and cats to be held from Friday, November 7 to Sunday, November 9, as part of its goal to eliminate rabies transmitted by dogs by 2030.
According to the MSP, rabies is a deadly viral disease that affects both animals and humans, but can be effectively prevented through vaccination. The campaign will offer free and safe vaccines for pets across all provinces, with teams visiting neighborhoods and fixed vaccination posts open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The official launch will take place at Plaza de la Cultura on Friday at 9:00 a.m., where vaccinations will also be administered until 2:30 p.m.
Coordinated by the Center for Prevention and Control of Vector-Borne and Zoonotic Diseases (Cecovez), the operation will deploy over one million vaccine doses nationwide. The ministry urged citizens to welcome vaccination teams or visit nearby posts, emphasizing that “vaccinating your pets is an act of love, responsibility, and protection for the whole family.” Vaccination sites by province can be found on the Ministry’s official social media channels.
