Dominican Rep,, Japan agree to help Haiti´s forests, farms

Dominican Republic, Japanpact help for Haiti´s highlands

Santo Domingo.- TheDominican Government and Japan´s International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on Sundayagreed to implement the second stage of a project to train farm and forestry techniciansin highland areas in Haiti (Proamoh 2).

In its announcement theEconomy Ministry said the three-party cooperation project seeks to improve Haiti´stechnical capacity in agriculture, through which small farmers in those areas anapply to implement the techniques for sustainable farming and promoteagriculture´s expansion.

Inocencio Garcia, ofthe Economy Ministry, Cesar Dargam of the Foreign Ministry and Ismael Cruz ofthe Agriculture Ministry signed the agreement on behalf of the DominicanGovernment,

Resident representativeAkihiko Yamada signed for JICA, in addition to Benito Ferreiras, president ofthe Santiago Technological University (ISA), in a National Palace ceremony.
