Get caught using an illegal gun, you’re off to jail: Top prosecutor

Santo Domingo.- Justice minister Francisco Dominguez on Thursdayinstructed all prosecutors to request detention in all cases where weapons are illegally used.

He acknowledged that thecountry has been the victim of increased robberies in recent months, inaddition to the two bank holdups in which illegal firearms were used.

Dominguez stressed theneed to be put a stop to those crimes and ordered prosecutors to seek stifferpenalties in cases involving illegal guns. The people with illegal firearms, whouse them to steal or kill, "should be in jail."

The official said thepeople need to know that if they´re caught using an illegal weapon they’ll goto jail.
