Taiwan, China escalate courtships for the Dominican Republic(Update)
Santo Domingo.- China commercial development office representative Fu Xinrong on Mon. announced the 7th edition of Expo China 2017, from Nov. 9 to 12 at Dominican Fiesta hotel, where around 30 Chinese companies will showcase thousands of products, articles, equipment and construction materials. She said her country can invest as much as US$824.0 million in projects for development.
The announcement comes the same day in which Taiwan donated military vehicles and two helicopters, reportedly worth over US$30.0 million to the Dominican Govt., as Taipei and Beijing escalate their courtship to woo Santo Domingo.
Xinrong, who affirmed that China is Dominican Republic’s second-most important country in trade, said the event is also hosted by the Chinese International Trade Promotion Council has the support of the Economy Ministry, the National Business Council, the Chinese Chamber of Commerce and other Dominican Govt. agencies.
In a press conference, the Chinese official said that the commercial exhibition that will be staged in a space of 2,000 square meters, will offer opportunities for business, investment, export and trade for small medium and large Dominican companies.
