Medina cuts ribbon on long-demanded cross-mountain road

El Seibo, Dominican Republic.- President Danilo Medina on Monday cut the ribbon on the El Seibo-Miches road built at a cost of RD$694.0 million, which the government says is a new contribution to the social and economic development for the people in the east region.

The new road activates Miches’ economy and energizes the region and crosses the rugged Eastern Mountain Range

The 40.5-kilometer road section, demanded for decades by inhabitants, is part of the first phase of the Eastern Road Grid, which will benefit some 100,000 residents of the towns of El Seibo, La Nabajagua, Pedro Sanchez, El Ocho, Los Corazones and Miches.

“The road will develop ecotourism and attract tourists and investors. The execution of the work created 300 direct and over 1,000 indirect jobs,” the Presidency website said.
