Dominican Republic visit reveals India’s push toward Lat-Am

Santo Domingo.- Foreign minister Andrés Navarro and India counterpart Vijay Kumar Singh on Monday discussed economic, social, technological and cooperation development issues.

The meeting included senior of the Foreign Ministry officials and Dominican ambassador in India, Hans Danneberg.

Singh said his visit to the Dominican Republic is part of his country’s push to expand ties with Central America, Latin America and the Caribbean in a new era of diplomacy which stressed the need for stronger and more direct approach between nations.

"Our presence in this wonderful country is part of the interest of the government I represent of the prime minister Narendra Modi, to strengthen ties with Latin American nations and especially with members of the Central American Integration System (SICA),” the top diplomat said.

Singh, a retired general and former India Army Chief of Staff, is on a three-day visit in the country, where he is slated to meet with business leaders and other personalities.
