Rugged Central Mountains town gets a new road

Jánico, Dominican Republic.-President Danilo Medina on Sunday cut the ribbon for a road which links a townin the Central Mountains and renovatedand expanded Diagnostic Center for and streets of another town.

During one of hissurprise visits to the highland town Medina had promised the 24-kilometer Jánico-Juncalitoroad, built at a cost of RD$604.2 million (US$13.2 million).

The works included thewidening of the road to 6.50 meters and compressed shoulders, gutters and twoinch thick asphalt.

Speaking in the activity,State Works Supervisory Engineers Office (OISOE) director Pedro Pagan said betterroads guarantee quality of life for the people, citing the villages of Bao,Jagua, Cagueye, Sejita, La Vija, Guayabal, Dojima and others.
