Canada-based Dominican miner comes clean after surprise deal

Bonao, DominicanRepublic.- Falconbridge Dominicana (Falcondo) on Saturday said American Nickel Limited(Americano Nickel-ANL) is a specialized mining industry holding company focusedon the exploration and extraction of ferronickel deposits in the DominicanRepublic and the Americas.

Falcondo´s statement comesin the heels of questions as to ANL´s lack of presence on the Web, and thetransaction which Energy and Mines minister Antonio Isa acknowledged surprisedhim.

Falcondo said in thetransaction that took place August 13, ANL acquired 100% of Glencore CanadaCorp.´s shares in the Dominican miner.

"The resumptionof operations of ferronickel will create hundreds of new direct and indirectjobs in Monseñor Noel and La Vega provinces and will be conducted in totalcompliance with the best national and international health and security practicesand full respect for national and international environmental standards," thecompany said in a press release.
