Major road projects ready by end of Oct.: Public Works

Santo Domingo.- PublicWorks minister Gonzalo Castillo on Tuesday said the government works toexpedite the completion of several major road works before the end of presidentDanilo Medina´s current term in office.

He said Public Workshas intervened 18,000 kilometers of back roads and 6,000 kilometers of roads invarious parts of the country during his tenure. "We´ve tried to do worksthat really impact the country´s productive apparatus."

Among the important worksthe official listed the three stages of the beltways around Santo Domingo andSantiago, the Southern Road Circuit, the reconstruction and widening of the Baní-Azua-Barahona road, and the Tourism Boulevard of the East.

Castillo saidPublic Works focuses on the construction of road infrastructure that will spur developmentin all regions as ease Greater Santo Domingo´s traffic as well.

In that regard theofficial affirmed that the third and final span of the Santo Domingo Beltway theoverpass at the 27 de Febrero and Privada avenues will be opened by the end ofOctober.
