Santo Domingo Metro line 2 to be tested in 6 months

Santo Domingo.- The agencyin charge of the metro lines (Opret) on Thursday announced it will test the extensionof Santo Domingo Metro´s second line in the next six months.

Opret deputy directorLeonel Carrasco said the tunnel, which he called the most complex structure ofthe civil works, is100% completed, with the electromechanical phase –rails andelectricity- still to install.

He said the bridgeover the Ozama River, whose rails link the National District with the EasternZone, 60% completed. "The bridge´s grandeur, its majesty can already be seen.We´re working on the river, which is the most critical in the two main pylonsthat will sustain the bridge,” of 800 meters.

Carrasco said howeverthat he doesn’t know when the six trains with three cars each will arrive inthe country, adding that of the second line´s four stations under construction,the one located at San Vicente de Paul corner Fernandez de Navarrete is themost advanced.
