Medina cuts ribbon on overpass at central highland town

Bonao, DominicanRepublic.- President Danilo Medina on Sunday cut the ribbon for the overpass atPiedra Blanca, central Monseñor Noel province, designed to help save lives timeand fuel, and decongest traffic on the Duarte highway, according to PublicWorks minister Gonzalo Castillo.

The 4-lane, 670 meter-longoverpass had been demanded for years by both motorists and locals, some of whomwere killed at the busy intersection, which handles traffic from the city ofCotui.

Castillo said the overpassis designed for a speed of 80 kph, has two merging lanes in both directions andfeatures LED lighting.
