Cemex DR announces cement output record; US$6.0M packing plant

Santo Domingo.- CemexDominicana produced a record 2.2 million metric tons of cement from its SanPedro de Macoris (east) plant in 2015, exceeding its 1.8 million MT annualaverage over the past five years.

The multinational saidthe accomplishment consolidates its leadership and confirms its position asprovider of choice for infrastructure projects, "supported by theincreased production capacity, a history of timely delivery of materials andhigh quality" in all its products.

"Having achievedthis new production record shows our commitment to the country, where we havecreated the conditions to contribute to the development and ensure theprovision of one of the basic materials for the construction of housing andinfrastructure, such as cement," said Cemex Dominicana president Carlos E.Gonzalez.

He thanked consumersfor preferring the brand Cemento Titan and reiterated their commitment toprovide a world-class product with the best service to all its customers:"We´re very proud of the extraordinary results achieved in 2015, whichhave allowed us to reach another milestone in the 20 years of shared historyalongside Dominican Republic."

Infrastructure investments

Cemex has invested morethan US$6.0 million (RD$273.0 million) at its plant in San Pedro de Macoris in2015, and announced the start of the installation of a new cement packing unit.

In a statement thecement-maker also announced the construction of a new warehouse to palletizecement and a weighing system aimed at increasing the flow of truck dispatch considerablyin response to demand and local market preference.

Gonzalez said therecent investments is the result of the company´s confidence in the country, especiallyin the future of the construction industry. “In this year 2016 the company isconfident it will continue to grow in all its businesses as it has steadily donein recent years.”
