Major components arrive for coal-fired power plants

Santo Domingo.- The CEO of the State-owned electric utility(CDEEE) on Sunday announced the arrival of the generator, turbine and relatedequipment for the first of two coal-fired power plants being built at PuntaCatalina, Peravia province (south).

Ruben Jimenez Bichara said the equipment arrived at Haina portFriday, and transferred to Punta Catalina Sunday.

He said construction of both the first and the second plantsis on schedule, with 80% of the plant’s functional equipment already on site.

"The Punta Catalina facility is a reality, and asprojected, will inject energy to the National Interconnected Electric System(SENI) in the second half of 2017."
