Central America, Dominican Republic to grow 4.5% in 2016: IDB

Washington.- The Central American countries and theDominican Republic will continue to grow around 4.5% in 2016, on the UnitedStates’ expected economic recovery and falling oil prices, Inter-AmericanDevelopment Bank (IDB) president Luis Alberto Moreno said Wednesday.

He said the situation creates a proper ambiance for theregion to enact reforms to increase productivity and an environment for competitiveness.

"We must use this environment to forge policies toachieve growth, stability, employment and equity," the executive said in hisspeech to open the 13th Meeting of Governors of Central America andthe Dominican Republic, held in the US capital from February 29 to March 1.
