Dominican Mines chief predicts ‘revolution’ in fossil fuel exploration

Santo Domingo .- Energy and Mines minister Antonio IsaConde on Wednesday said Dominican Republic will soon undergo a "realrevolution” to explore for and produce fossilfuels based on clear rules and transparent tender processes.

He said as never before the Government now has valuable,abundant information and regulations, "to do what has never beendone" to extract in some area and sustainability exploit natural resourcesto create wealth.

Speaking on Telesistema Channel 11, the official also announcedthe launch of the National Hydrocarbons Database in the coming days, withoutresorting to the discretionary assignment of projects, and instead with competitivetenders based on international best practices.
