Cocoa conclave to fill Dominican East region with aroma

Santo Domingo.- The National Cacao Commission and the AgricultureMinistry on Thursday announced the 3rd World Cocoa Conference, from May22 to 25 in Bavaro, eastern Altagracia province.

President Danilo Medina and Agriculture minister AngelEstevez are slated to inaugurate the event, scheduled for 9:30am Monday at the HotelBarceló Bavaro Convention Center.

It’s the first time the Cocoa Convention will be held inLatin America, where production and processing technology, and marketing of productssuch as chocolate, butter, etc. will be discussed.

Among the 1,700 delegates who will attend figure chocolatemanufacturers and cacao producers from more than 60 countries, to discuss keyissues on the global cocoa production and processing industry.

Estevez said the country was chosen to host the Conference becauseof Dominican cacao’s organoleptic conditions, which he affirms make it amongthe world’s most exquisite aromatic cacaos.
