Big business congratulates Medina, pushes electricity pact

Santo Domingo.- Business leaders want to work with presidentDanilo Medina to continue the projects that contribute to develop the country, saidNational Business Council (CONEP) president Rafael Blanco in a visit to theNational Palace Thursday to congratulate him on his election win.

"It was a decision made by CONEP’s directors to designateus to congratulate the president for the election victory in the last electionand obviously, logically, to say that we are ready to continue working andcollaborating with his administration to advance the important issues on thenational agenda," said Blanco, accompanied a CONEP directors Rafael Paz, Rafael del Toro, LinaGarcía and Pedro Brache.

He said the country has a bright future and has an idealposition, “with very dynamic sectors in the Dominican economy that really havemuch future, including tourism, free zone and the energy industry sector."

Blanco said the Electric Pact, one of the pending issue, “iswell underway to finish signing the contract.”

He said he believes that the Electric Pact allow a hugeamount of investment in that sector, "particularly for this country tohave an efficient electric sector that give us energy 24-7 at competitiveprices."
