Major ship docks a Caucedo, heads to 2nd Panama crossing

Santo Domingo.- A container ship of the company "MSCBrunella" arrived in the Dominican Republic on Monday afternoon afterhaving sailed from Hamburg, Germany.

The freighter is the first deep draft vessel of theshipping line MSC to transit the expanded Panama Canal after having previously visitedthe Dominican Republic.

Its destination is South America’s Pacific coast aftercrossing Cristobal, Panama. The ship is very similar to the neo-panamax CoscoShipping Panama, which made the inaugural crossing through the expanded Canal,through the new Agua Clara locks, on the Atlantic side.

The Brunella, which arrived at Puerto Caucedo at 12PM, hasa load capacity of 8,827 TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit); measures 48.2meters wide and 300 meters long.
