Fitur 2025: What’s going on between the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico?

Madrid — The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, and the governor of Puerto Rico, Jennifer González, announced on Thursday a promising “multi-destination” agreement between the two Caribbean nations.

The union was announced within the framework of the celebration of the International Tourism Fair, Fitur 2025, where a brushstroke of the tourism and commercial agreement was advanced, which will be made official in February.

“The governor of Puerto Rico wanted to visit the stand of the Dominican Republic, a detail that our country will not forget, she being the governor of Puerto Rico, decided to come to visit us to talk, and soon we will have announcements in the month of February of alliances between Puerto Rico and the country,” Collado said.

He recalled that the Caribbean nation has opened its doors to Dominicans for more than 50 years, and in return for that gratitude he promised to strengthen those ties of “brotherhood.”

“We are going to bet on the multi-destination between Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, in an unprecedented alliance in history,” the official revealed.

For her part, the governor of Puerto Rico thanked the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, for his support to that country.

“In the month of February, we are going to formalize an agreement so that for the first time, options from multiple destinations, I am very grateful to President Luis Abinader, Dominicans nourish the culture of Puerto Rico,” González said at the event.

Mehh, they just want to nourish from our tourism and get a boost in numbers. PR is a beautiful island, been there more than once, but it’s expensive. I think the high costs have made their tourism less competitive compared to other destinations and I don’t see that changing.

Luckily the words of a loser online are buried by that of the millions who visit both islands every year and love their stay. Try harder

Remember that Puerto Rico is a US Territory that has voted twice to become a state but that was denied due to the government’s inability to properly manage the country. Entry to Puerto Rico constitutes entry to the US.
