Asonahores confident Grupo Puntacana will drive Cabo Rojo tourism development

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic Hotel and Tourism Association (Asonahores), through its executive vice president Aguie Lendor, praised the government’s selection of the Cabo Rojo Consortium—led by Grupo Puntacana—as a minority and strategic partner in the Pedernales tourism project. Lendor emphasized that Grupo Puntacana’s five decades of experience in tourism development make it a valuable asset for ensuring the project’s success.
Lendor noted that Grupo Puntacana has a proven history of transforming underdeveloped areas into thriving tourism destinations, building a strong brand along the way. She stressed that the partnership between the public and private sectors is a proven model for national progress, especially in key industries such as free trade zones, manufacturing, and tourism.
The executive also highlighted that the South region, particularly Pedernales, urgently needed an economic boost. She applauded the government’s decision to promote tourism as the engine for regional development. Lendor predicted that the Cabo Rojo project will generate extensive economic activity and job creation, positively impacting sectors like tour services, crafts, food and beverage, textiles, and livestock.
It is a win-win for all.
It must be advised the Board of Directors of Asonahores has the involvement of a least two people having direct links to Grupo Punta Cana.
People said the same thing when Groupo Punta Cana invested in Peravia, but that project (Puntarena) is not moving.
