Dominicans can get free health care at 4 NYC hospitals
New York (listin.com.do).- A Health Window (VDS) that provides services from more than 300 doctors in four major city hospitals was opened at Dominican Republic’s Consulate on Tuesday, as part of president Danilo Medina’s campaign pledges to Dominicans abroad.
General consul Felix Antonio Martinez said the Window aims to bring wellbeing to the locals residing in New York, and open one in all consulates in U.S. cities where Dominicans live.
The New York Consulate pioneered the initiative, to help the thousands of Dominicans who don’t have adequate social security coverage. "The VDS contributes to preserve the health of Dominican immigrants, facilitating access to services in several hospitals where they receive support from the initiative.”
He said the agreement includes Lincoln Hospital and Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx and the Dominican Medical Center in Washington Heights.
