Haiti: Convicts escaped during 2010 quake might get Dominican ID
Santo Domingo.- Haiti’s Interior Minister on Thursday said his country will adopt measures to keep Haitian convicts who escaped from his country’s prisons during the January 2010 quake, from taking advantage of Dominican Republic’s plan to regularize foreigners, EFE reports.
Reginald Delva, during a meeting with Dominican counterpart José Ramón Fadul, said Port-au-Prince “wants to make sure that this process is not for escaped convicts", with measures to prevent the escapees from obtaining another ID.
He said Haiti authorities work to issue passports to its citizens so they can regulate their status in the Dominican Republic.
